Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, liebe Freunde der Galerie,
wir laden Sie und Ihre Freunde herzlich zur Eröffnung der Ausstellung mit Arbeiten von Sarianna Metsähuone am Donnerstag, den 14. July 2005, ab 19.00 Uhr in unsere Galerie ein.

Sarianna Metsähuones "Forest Room"-Serie mit vertikal von oben aufgenommenen Motiven handelt vom Wiederfinden und Verorten von Identität und Herkunft. Wald wird als Metapher gebraucht, um die Bedeutung von Heimat und wandelnder Identität zu erforschen. Wald versteht die in Schweden und Finnland lebende Künstlerin als universellen archetypischen Raum, einen unwirklichen Platz, der zugleich privat und öffentlich ist. Die Forest-Room-Serie (14 Titel, Auflage 6, C-Print auf Diasec, 105 x 84 cm) fasst die Geschichte des Waldes, seine Idee im Zwischenraum von Vergangenheit und Zukunft. Inmitten aller möglichen Kombinationen von Ort und Zeit kann der Betrachter gleichzeitig das Außen und Innen, Nähe und Ferne, Abwesenheit und Präsenz erfahren. Identitäten werden losgelöst von Ort und Zeit, die Geschichte unterliegt keiner Chronologie, man kann sie jederzeit betreten.

We are pleased to annouce our exhibition of Sarianna Metsaehuone's work and to invite you and your friends for the opening reception on Thursday, July 14, 2005, from 7 pm onwards.

Forest Room deals with issues of belonging, of re-finding and defining one's identity and origin. It uses the forest as a metaphor to examine the meaning of home and identity in transit. The work situates, conceptually, forest room as an archetypal space anywhere on earth. It creates an illusory place that is inherently private yet accessible to all. Forest Room (14 Titles, Edition 6, C-Print on Dieasec, 105 x 84 cm) is the story of a forest, the idea of a forest sandwiched between the past and the future. All possible combinations of place and time exist inside this story. The viewer can be feeling simultaneously outside and inside, far and near, absent and present. Identities are detached from the date and place. The story has neither a beginning or end, nor middle; you can walk into it at any time.
